Canadian Dental Care Program At Longfields Dental

Dentist Barrhaven - Dentist Fallowfield

We always strive to provide the highest quality dental care to our valued patients. In line with this commitment, our dental office is pleased to announce that we are now accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

This new program aims to provide more Canadians with access to affordable dental care by offering a range of benefits and coverage. If you do not have private insurance and meet the criteria, you or your family members might be eligible to receive dental insurance through the CDCP. We encourage all our eligible patients to apply, as this is a great opportunity to have access to dental care for those who do not have private insurance or insufficient funds for dental treatment.

Service Canada is accepting applications in phases.

  • Online applications are now open for seniors aged 65 and above, adults with a valid CRA Disability Tax Credit Certificate and children under 18.

  • All remaining eligible Canadian residents will be able to apply in 2025.

To apply, please visit the following link: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/dental/dental-care-plan/apply.html.

For patients who are already covered by a provincial or federal dental program, such as ODSP, Healthy Smiles, NIHB etc. you will also now be eligible for the CDCP along with your existing plan.. We encourage you to apply when you are eligible, allowing you to have access to better coverage.

Once you confirm your eligibility with the CDCP, they will provide you with a CDCP identification card by mail. This card will indicate when you are eligible and what percentage of services you’ll be covered for under the CDCP fee guide.

When you receive your CDCP identification card please send us an email at [email protected] or call us at 613 823 9666 and provide us with your:

  1. Certificate Number

  2. What percentage you will be covered for, AND

  3. When you are eligible to start receiving services

*Note: This information will be found on your card and in the corresponding documents it came with.

We will then verify your eligibility and book you in with one of our dental professionals to work with you to create a personalized treatment plan and get you the care that you need!

Starting August 1, 2024, we will no longer accept coverage from the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO) for dental services payment.

Individuals eligible for ODSP, HSO now qualify for the new Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP), which we do accept. You must apply for the CDCP to receive coverage. There will be an out-of-pocket expense, which ODSP, or HSO may reimburse.

IMPORTANT: For individuals on ODSP, HSO, who do not yet meet the age requirements for the CDCP, we will continue to accept them under ODSP, and HSO until they become eligible. We will continue to provide services during the transition phase, especially if the individual is awaiting their card or other necessary documentation.

We will not accept those who have been eligible for the CDCP for several months but have not applied for it.

We have prepared a quick guide to help you understand how it works. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call.

FEE GUIDE

  • The Fee Guide for the Canada Dental Care Plan is below the current Ontario Dental Association Fee Guide, the fee guide we utilize.

  • We do not accept the Fee Guide of the Canada Dental Care Plan as full payment of our fees.

  • The difference between our fee and the Canada Dental Care Plan fee will be billed to every patient and that amount will be due directly from the patient at the time of treatment.

Additionally, the portion of the Canada Dental Care Plan fee that is the co-pay responsibility of the patient will be billed to every patient, and that amount will be due directly from the patient at the time of treatment.

COVERAGE

  • The Canada Dental Plan does not cover all recommended procedures. We can assist you with determining what coverage you have for any procedures. However, please be aware that your health needs are not dependent on your coverage.

  • The Canada Dental Plan does not cover the recommended frequency of cleanings, exams, and other procedures. Please be aware that for most adults, the recommended frequency for these will be higher than what is covered, so additional required treatments would be out of pocket.

EXPENSES

  • If you qualify for 100% coverage under the plan, your out of pocket expense will be roughly 5% to 15% of the fee. This means there will always be an out of pocket expense even when you have 100% coverage. This amount may be a bit more or less, depending on the specific procedure.

  • If you qualify for 60% coverage under the plan, your out of pocket expense will be roughly 45% of the fee. This amount may be a bit more or less, depending on the specific procedure.

  • If you qualify for 40% coverage under the plan, your out of pocket expense will be roughly 65% of the fee. This amount may be a bit more or less, depending on the specific procedure.

Your estimated out of pocket expense is payable at the time of treatment. It may not be possible to know the exact amount at the time of treatment until it is submitted to the insurance. Any overpayment will be reimbursed to you at a later time. Any underpayment will be billed to you, to be paid at a later time

ENROLLMENT

  • You must be enrolled in the Canada Dental Plan and your enrollment verified before treatment is done. It is your responsibility to ensure you are enrolled and to provide that information to us before your appointment. Failure on your part to do so does not absolve you of responsibility for payment of any services rendered by our office. If in doubt, please contact us and we can help you in verifying your enrollment.

  • The Canada Dental Care Plan coverage runs from July 1 to June 30 (12 months). You must re-apply every year to ensure eligibility. It is not like a normal plan that continues year after year.

Our team is committed to ensuring you receive the best care possible, and we believe that by accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan it is an opportunity for us to provide care to new and existing patients, many of whom have been unable to afford to see an oral health provider regularly in the past due to cost.

If you have any questions or need more information about the Canadian Dental Care Plan and how it benefits you, please do not hesitate to contact us at 613 823 9666 or please visit the CDCP website for more information.

Our team member is here to assist you every step of the way.
